12/12/11: It’s no surprise that I’m a big fan of college traditions, and more specifically, ones that are well planned and executed year after year. So, when I got an email asking me to help out at Bentley Residence Hall Association’s annual Breakfast By Moonlight (Midnight Breakfast) on the last day of classes, I first had fond flashbacks to the treks I would make down to Kimball Hall to have Fr. McFarland serve me pancakes during my time on the hill. Then, I jumped on the opportunity! After a long day in the office, I had all intentions of having a quick dinner, watching the Amazing Race finale, then heading to the gym for a run before heading back to Season’s, the campus dining hall. Unfortunately, the latter part of the plan fell through and I somehow fell asleep for about three hours, waking up just in time to head to Season’s and see a line of students waiting to get in out the door. Soon enough, I found myself gripping tongs and serving French toast sticks to hungry, studious, students. This was a much appreciated job after being told all day that I would be scooping eggs. After pulling the “I got food poisoning from Season’s eggs card”, I was off the hook…but not for long. My inaugural BBM did not end before I had a quick stint at the sausage link stand…serving the slimy goodness to hungry football players and smiling to show my agreement with the students who gave me the “that looks disgusting” face. When 1AM rolled around, I was glad to get some fresh air and looked took one of the best showers of my life. And thanks to the 3 hour nap, I will be up all night…
