12/11/11: File this Sunday under the “perfect day” category. After waking up and doing a couple loads of laundry and tidying up the apartment, t’was off to pick up Alyssa and Dylan for an Uncle Jimmy daycare adventure day. It saddens me a little bit to know that I’ve been back in MA for over 6 months now and with work, life, and everything else, I feel like I see these rugrats less often than I did when I was in VT! Anyway, today made up for it if nothing else. Before heading into the city, we had a healthy lunch at Wendy’s, toys from happy meals included and were the highlight of the meal. Soon after, we were off to the New England Aquarium (but not before Dylan took a quick power nap in the car). It was awesome to see the excitement of seeing sharks and penguins through the eyes of a 4 and 6 year old. When it came time to touch stingrays, they chickened out a little bit and Dylan complained that his shirt would get wet (he truly is my nephew). Once they were done and bored of seeing all the water animals (which I’m still not sure how anyone could ever get bored of), we made our way back to Bentley to make some gingerbread houses and watch A Charlie Brown Christmas! I must say, the kids may be following in their grandpa’s footsteps of building houses! And, thank goodness for vacuums and plastic tablecloths!
