11/14/11: Do you like Lady Gaga? Are you married? Do you iron your jeans? What kind of car do you drive? What’s your favorite website? Do you watch Glee? Oh the questions that students will throw out there to determine your sexual orientation. Bentley PRIDE coordinated a great program tonight that did just that. Try sitting in front of about 100+ students looking like this with 11 of your colleagues across campus do students could have a chance to Guess the Straight Person. This kid did exactly that tonight and despite the butterflies in my stomach beforehand, I loved it! Despite most students guessing my orientation correctly (yes, some were incorrect), it was fun to participate in. The conversation that followed was great and hopefully students walked out of the event with a message to challenge stereotypes. And yes, I swear that my voice is the way that is because I have a deviated septum! The doctor told me! And yes, ironing jeans daily is a must. As is moisturizing. Whatever your sexual orientation is.
